Is the video for Sébastien Tellier – "Divine" blasphemous and offensive to Christians?

Is the French Eurovision song by Sébastien Tellier – "Divine" blasphemous and offensive to Christians?

The tongue-in-cheek video features a bearded, long-haired Sébastien-alike in a number of Christ-like poses and at one stage on a crusifix [1 minute 57 seconds into the video].

And why is the BBC the only version that shows the unedited version of a Sébastien Tellier look-a-like on the cross whilst every other video has this bit edited out?

crisse de tabarnak! if they find it offending then they should stop being so uptight… i think that they shouldn`t care to much, we don`t live during the Inquisition eh?

Can anyone enter eurovision?

Posted on August 20th, 2009 by admin in eurovision participants | 4 Comments »

As in, could Leona Lewis enter for us if she wanted to? Or do the participants have to be unknown etc.?

I think anyone can go we (Spain) sent Las ketchup … 3 years ago – after they were famous with the song Bloody Mary (they didn’t win it for us)

I don’t know how it work’s in the U.K
But in Spain we have a tallent show, anyone can enter it is something like X FACTOR [Salvemos Eurovision - is the name of the show "SAVE EUROVISION] – then you vote by SMS or calling until there is one person left

In Andorra, they have something the same. But it isn’t democractic – it was this year, but the end votes didn’t count a lot.

p.d and 2 years ago someone sent DJ Tëisto xD either Nederlands or Switzerland

Do you agree with Terry Wogans comment on the eurovision?

Posted on August 18th, 2009 by admin in eurovision participants | 7 Comments »

He said it was "no longer a music contest" and that prospects for Western European participants were "poor".

Yes I do. And you can tell he has no enthusiasm for it anymore, much like children in need.

Do you agree with Sir Terry that Western Europe should not enter Eurovision Song Contest again? Reform poss.??

Wogan unhappy at UK Eurovision flop

Press Assoc. – 2 hours 56 minutes ago

Veteran Eurovision Song Contest commentator Sir Terry Wogan has cast doubt on whether he would be involved in covering the event again.

He said it was "no longer a music contest" and that prospects for Western European participants were "poor".

He spoke out near the end of his TV commentary after Britain’s entry Andy Abraham had finished joint last of the 25 finalists.

See http://bbc.co.uk/news & click ‘Have your say’

Scroll down & you see their invitation to ask for debates that you feel folk will most enjoy: click & ask @ it, OK?

Gotta be a good laugh, eh?

"The BBC has been deluged by millions of members of Yahoo Answers, so we are pleased to say…"

WHAT would they be pleased to say?

There’s every chance that Tel has pulled a deliberate ‘get ‘em over a barrel’ negotiation ploy, yes?

Would East EU wanna go on if West EU pulls out?

I think not – do you?

Tel needs TOG/TYGs
Hi Fluffy!

I agree with you & I’m sure it’s merely the ridiculously political voting system that irks Sir Terry

I felt Ukraine & Greece had better songs than us

I just didn’t notice the Russian one, but seeing its title today, I’m sure I’ve heard it & thought it was good

I see no reason why individuals can’t vote for their own countr if they think their song was the best

as I say, I’d have voted Ukraine on Sat
Hi Mikey

I thought Andy was good, but not the best

Leona’s great, yes

I’m sorry Michelle Gayle didn’t represent us as she has such a sunny personality & such great energy
Hi Dave!

Put yaself in da shoes of songwriters with he chance to reach 100 million folk @ once – they go flat out to win, as I woulda if it had been going when I was in my teens/20s, as a songwriter myself

It gets the adrenalin pumpin’, dude!

I’ve always loved Eurovision

& so does Tel if the silly voting system can be improved OK
Hi MF!

As a regular-ish TOG @ http:bbc.co.uk/radio2 Wake Up To Wogan, \Monday’s show – (or Tues if he’s off till then – will be one of the best ever

Tel knows how to work a crowd & get folk going
It would be a big disappointment to young singer-songwriters not to have the chance to sing to such a big audience

I think Tel was deliberately hyping Andy up, knowing what would happen

I’m sure he rightly assesses that now is the time to press for much needed reforms

I saw a Yahoo headline, as I came on, that Tel is getting support

Email BBC & other media: people power time, y’all!
‘ey up!

I’ve only just played Tel’s interview

So…

Simon Cowell & Brucie agree with him

"There is a tide in the affairs of man which, if……."

I’ll let Shakespeare fans fill in da blanks, OK?
I was gonna choose a best answer, but I see no-one has yet completed that tactical Shakepeare line…

Has it EVER been a music contest????!!!

Yet another of our Eurovision candidates is black, hasn’t our identity been undermined enough?

Posted on August 14th, 2009 by admin in eurovision participants | 10 Comments »

The British candidate for Eurovision, like the British participant in last years contest, is of African descent. Now, I am aware that I am going to encounter opposition from brainwashed, ‘liberals’ and left-wingers, but this is the truth, and I merely hurt that my country will be the laughing stock of Europe, again.

No other European country will place an African as their candidate, that is because, quite simply, that they are Europeans, and not Africans. Is Britain too degenerate to follow this simple logic?

We need to wake up and realise that this is not normal, or natural, but is destroying Britain’s ethnic identity and is making us a laughing stock around the world. It is not ‘progressive’ or ‘forward-thinking’, but a decimation of a nation and its people.

And by the way, I’m half North African myself, I can just see what’s going here.
I don’t think my ethnicity determines my views on things.

Saying I am hypocritical is like saying the thousands of whites who participated in the black civil rights movement, to help the blacks, were hypocrites. It’s just about knowing when something is wrong, and fighting against it.
I’m not a black African either, and I look like a white man.
Well, let’s not get into the racial credentials of North Africans, but they are mediterranean, not black.

If I was half Greek, who are much darker than my relatives, then you would not been saying the same thing.

Actually, first poster, I’m not white; can you not read? I just sympathise with their plight, like the many whites who supported Martin Luther King.
This contest is symptomatic of a wider problem in British society, a problem Anyone who cannot see the inference there is clearly the one ‘without a clue’.
To the sixth poster, your insults are futile. You honestly cannot see the link between the two factors you stated? Educate yourself.
To the sixth poster, your insults are futile. You honestly cannot see the link between the two factors you stated? Educate yourself.
Second from last poster, who’s name is irrelevant, why can I not complain? Were the whites wrong to support Martin Luther King and his civil rights movement, or the end of Apartheid in South Africa? Stop being so ethnocentric, this is about right and wrong.

if you;re half north african then who the hell are you to talk?? it’s the eurovision contest, not the eurowhite contest. the dude of ‘african decent’ is black BRITISH whether you like it or not. we’re not going to win anyhow. you obviously don’t know about the politics of the event. who would you rather represent us. katie price?

edit: yeh i pretty much guessed you were white else we wouldn’t have had such a BNP rant

edit2: you’re really going to compare the civil rights movement to the eurovision song contest?! you have NO clue do you? i don’t care what you call yourself, your question has the makings of a 5 yr old BNP member speech ‘We need to wake up and realise that this is not normal, or natural, but is destroying Britain’s ethnic identity and is making us a laughing stock around the world. It is not ‘progressive’ or ‘forward-thinking’, but a decimation of a nation and its people.’

why don’t you start thinking about things that really matter? or better yet, ge develop some talent and enter the damn contest yourself.

Eurovision song contest…?

Posted on August 12th, 2009 by admin in eurovision participants | 10 Comments »

so basically all the ‘good’ countries have been kicked out, by the overwhelming voters of Russian origin??

# 03. Belarus
# 06. FYR Macedonia
# 07. Slovenia
# 08. Hungary
# 11. Georgia
# 14. Latvia
# 17. Serbia
# 21. Bulgaria
# 22. Turkey
# 24. Moldova

14 countries already qualified for Saturday’s Final. 10 of them qualified by reaching a top-10 position in last year’s Eurovision Song Contest Final, while the four biggest countries Germany, Spain, United Kingdom and France are automatically qualified for the Final. These four countries are the most important funding participants.

http://www.eurovision.tv/content/view/872/262/

why were the decent countries kicked out…?

Eurovision was never a masterpiece of talent but it was fun…. now what is the point…? 2 predictable and political…

I think it should have been kept with all countries being allowed to compete.
your opinions!!
Hi Lobster…I know….I agree…its just that who can compete with such a large community…I personally found the Israel song to be one of the best – but thats politics!

Don’t get your knickers in a twist, this is no longer a song contest, it is a political platform.

Edited Highlights

Last night’s results confirm my initial response to this question.

It has to be said GB did no better than I expected from such an abysmal entry. The young lady originally chosen by Terry Wogan would have made a much better fist of it.

Eurovision Song Contest unifying Europe?

Posted on August 10th, 2009 by admin in eurovision participants | 8 Comments »

What should we do after all of eastern europe became part of the eurovision?

These new participants have a very different taste than the western part of europe. For me, a lot of it was very bad taste. (Im sorry) And all of a suddain they are the majority on the show. Its almost as if we in the countries that started this tradition.. Spain, France, Ireland, Norway, Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, UK and others alike arent really a part of it anymore..

Its impossible to win with an intelligent contribution from now on. (Example: Sebastien Tellier 47p?!!!!!) It feels as if the contest have been couped. We dont understand them. They dont understand us. And now we are a minority in "our own" competition. This only seems to make the differenses clearer.

The way it is now, I dont feel is very unifying for a new Europe. How did it become like this? Is there a better solution? What should we do?

It is no longer a song contest. It is an oppertunity for some to make political statements. It mind sound like sour grapes to say "You are cheating so we are not playing anymore" but I think the time has come to say it. The Italians left this contest a few years ago and I think we (the UK) should join them.
